James Shaw is a professional beach volleyball athlete and member of the U.S. Beach National Team, competing on the FIVB Beach Pro Tour and AVP. James earned bronze at the Elite 16 Quintana Roo, finished 5th at the FIVB  World Championships in Adelaide, and was a member of the Miami Mayhem, helping the team finish tied for 3rd in the AVP League.

Before transitioning fully to beach volleyball, James spent 10 years with the U.S. Men’s National Team program as an indoor athlete. He led Stanford University to the 2014 NCAA National Championship, earned First-Team All-American honors, and later competed professionally overseas. His decade at the highest level of indoor volleyball gives him a unique technical and tactical foundation that carries over directly to the beach game.

Originally from Stanford, California, James is passionate about teaching the game with clarity and purpose. Outside of competition, he enjoys creative projects, time outdoors, and building small side ventures rooted in sport, travel, and

environmentally friendly living.
